Riley's First Dance Recital

We've said for quite a while now that some day, Riley would be on stage and entertaining the crowds.  We finished up our first dance experience with her ballet and tap recital at the beginning of June.  To say she was in her element would be an understatement.  She absolutely loved it!

Though we weren't too far back, I still didn't get the greatest photos, but I did want to share the ones I did get.  And the videos...well, let's just say I was balancing the video and my camera, so I'm sorry if it was a little shaky.

She danced her tap song first - Rio - and then after intermission, performed her ballet dance to LOVE.  She, of course, looked beautiful on stage, and we so adore how she kept waving to us as she walked up. We lucked out and picked the right side to sit on.

We are so proud of you, sweet girl.  To be just three years old and get up on that big stage in front of SO many people takes a lot of courage, and you nailed it.  I think we're taking a break from dance for now because you want to try out gymnastics next, but I have a feeling we'll see you on stage again soon.  You are so talented.  Love you, Riles.

A little Jitterbug

We always said this kid would be our little performer!  She was eager to start dance this past fall, so we opted for the low cost option to try it out and see if she really liked it.  Jitterbugs is a program offered at her preschool.  They pick her up from class once a week, walk her down the hall, and she stays with them for 40 minutes of Jitterbug time before I pick her up.  They did a small performance this month for the parents, where they performed three songs they'd been working on.  It was super cute!

They went back to chance costumes after each song so even though the three songs were only a couple minutes each, the program lasted about twenty minutes with all the wardrobe changes.  I loved how she waved to us each time she got back on stage.

Of course we had to spoil her a little bit for her first time on stage, right?  She got some flowers from Gavin and we took her out to dinner that night.  Making memories!

And....the last few months definitely showed that she likes being on stage, so for Christmas we signed her up for ballet and tap classes.  They start in a couple weeks!  We're thankful for Miss Nikki for helping foster her love of music and movement the past few months.  She's such a sweet teacher!  And as you can see, dancing wore little Miss out!

P.S. The dances were recorded and are on our YouTube channel.  Just let me know if you need help finding them!
