It's so hard to believe that Riley's already been finished with her first year of preschool for almost a month! They had their 'graduation' program recently, and of course, it was adorable. I kinda don't like calling it graduation because it makes it seem like she's finished with preschool, which she's not at all. She definitely has one more year (possibly TWO!) and people get confused when I say something about her graduation.
Of course, we had to go out and buy a new dress for the special occasion. She informed me that 'Miss Misty told us that our mommies and daddies would dress us up in fancy clothes!' She had a dress in mind, but it was velour...not really appropriate for May, so we did a little shopping.
How did you grow so much in just a short 8 months?
The program is just a little overview of their year, complete with an adorable DVD slideshow her teacher made for each student. So much work!
Just trying to get them in their right place was like herding cattle. It was so funny to watch.
I truthfully can't remember if Gavin had a 'solo' singing part of his preschool graduation ceremony. How awful is that? But this girl...she let everyone know she was preparing to sing. Her song was the Alphabet Song and she practiced that thing like crazy. She also loved to drive me crazy by 'practicing' the 'gummy bear' version her brother learned in school and proceeded to teach her. I was so paranoid that she would end up forgetting what she was supposed to be singing and end up using the inappropriate version about gummy bears, which ends with someone running for his life because grandma bear has a knife. Seriously?!?! Who makes up songs like this?
Her graduation was super cute though - a good mix of kids singing with so much pride, kids whispering their parts while keeping their fingers plugged in their ears, and then the little boy that recited the Itsy Bitsy Spider at the top of his lungs, bringing everyone to laughter.
After she got her 'biploma', we headed to grab Chickfila for lunch and met her friends at the park to play. It was an unusually cold May day so there were a lot of goosebumps, and eventually she asked to leave because she was tired, but I think that means she definitely had a great day celebrating her first year of preschool.
Riley is NOT exactly happy about school being over though. The idea of being in a new class with new friends and a new teacher is really getting to her. She makes it known that she is not happy about all these changes when they're brought up. We did get to meet Miss Cindy, her new teacher, so I'm hoping come August she'll be singing a different tune.
