Cheap Diapers!

I've posted about some deals I've been able to snag on diapers on my Facebook page and had some people ask me to explain it in more detail.  So, here you go!


We were considering (or should I say I was considering) cloth diapers this time around to help save us money on the diapers.  But, I never could fully convince Jarrod and once someone introduced me to Amazon Mom, I realized how I could get cheap diapers!  So, here's what you do.


First of all, start searching your parenting magazines for postcard sized coupons from Amazon.  They're in Parents, Fit Pregnancy, Parenting, and Baby Talk for sure.  Babies R Us and Burlington Coat Factory often have copies of these magazines for free for moms, so check there, too.  


Then, sign up on Amazon.com for the Amazon Mom program.  There you'll get discounts on diapers, wipes and other items you'll need for Baby along with free two day shipping.  When you click on the product you want, select the Subscribe and Save option (from what I've found this isn't always available for all products).  Then you basically sign up to have the product delivered on an automatic basis every month or two.  By doing this, you get an even bigger discount, and you can go in and cancel your subscription at any time.  Before finalizing your order, enter your coupon code for the added discount.  Certain coupons can even be stacked, allowing you to use more than one per order.


Now, to sweeten the deal, use Swagbucks!  If you sign up for Swagbucks [http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/mrspate22] you can earn Amazon gift cards!  What you do is use Swagbucks.com for your search engine instead of Google or whichever one you currently use.  I'll be honest and tell you it isn't always the greatest search engine, but I always use it first, and then try Google if I'm not happy with the results.  Randomly when searching, you'll be awarded 'bucks' that accumulate.  When you get to 450, you can get a $5 Amazon gift card.  I started using it about 4 months ago and have earned 4 gift cards.


So, when you take into account my Subscribe and Save discount, my coupon codes, and my Swagbucks gift cards, I've paid a total out of pocket of $6.63 for 2 cases of Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive diapers...over 300 diapers for less than $7!  That's about $0.02 per diaper.  :)

Haha...Joke's on me!

I love to follow coupon blogs and get good deals and great ideas.  It has definitely paid off for me.  One tip I remember reading was that if you put a product in your shopping cart online and leave it there, the company will often email you a coupon to encourage you to complete your online purchase.  This has worked for me for a couple sites, like Shutterfly.  But recently something funny happened to me.  I added this lens to my Amazon shopping cart, just to see what would happen.  Well nothing happened for a long while, and then I received an email from them!  Yay!  Haha....the email was to inform me the product in my shopping cart had gone up in price.  :)  Lesson learned...this idea to save some money doesn't work for Amazon! 

Coupon Question

Someone emailed me and asked about the coupon post from a couple days ago. She asked if I get a lot of "junk" emails now that I started signing up for freebies, registering at coupon sites, etc. To answer her question, in case anyone else reading this wants to know, yes....you will get a lot of emails so I would recommend creating a new email address solely for this purpose. I did just that; I check it every few days, delete what's just "junk" and print off any coupons that are emailed to me. Any other questions? A Coupon Addiction

I have so much to blog about this week so I'm going to get started. I took a ton of pictures this weekend, so those will come a little later. I'm foreseeing multiple posts a day for the next few days....

I've mentioned my new found love of some coupon blogs, and I've been telling people about some of the great deals I've been finding. Many have asked how I'm doing it, so I decided to tell you a little bit.

First of all, I'm not finding these deals on my own. You won't believe how easy it is with the help of these blogs. I picked two - Hip2Save and Money Saving Mom. Both links are on my Favorite Sites list on the blog. I simply buy the paper (or 2 like yesterday....really good coupons!), clip them, then check their blogs. They figure out when to use what coupons at which stores. It's amazing.

Jarrod laughs at me when I get so excited about these deals. But, seriously....this is one of the ways I make us money as a Stay at Home Mom! :)

Some of the good things I've gotten in the past couple weeks:
1. 2 FREE bottles of Nivea Body Wash - Buy 1, Get 1 Free at Walgreens and I had a coupon.
2. Gillette Body Wash and Deoderant for Jarrod - 1.99 for both with coupons and 'Rollback' at Walmart
3. Pampers Baby Wipes - $0.24 with coupon and 'Rollback' at Walmart.
4. 4-pack of Yogurt for Gavin - $0.67 with coupon and sale price at Target.
5. FREE Tropicana OJ - thanks to Tropicana's Juicy Rewards program - it's free to sign up and you just enter the codes from your cap to earn points, and you redeem the points for discounts.
6. One FREE Admission to the Tulsa Zoo - Tropicana Rewards :)
7. Lots of Freebies that I'm anxiously awaiting in the mail - a Neti Pot (I hope this helps my allergies!), a Gillette Razor for Jarrod, 3 months subscription to People Magazine, year subscription to Baby Talk magazine... :)

I'm loving it! And yes, I realize this shows I've bought 3 bottles of body wash in the past week or so. I'm trying to show Jarrod it's all about stockpiling - I'd much rather have 3 bottles in the closet that I paid nothing for than pay $6 when we need it. Have questions? Just ask! Happy Saving!!!
