I love when the innocence of a
child is so present. Yesterday, Gavin got some new cars in the mail
from Mimi and Beepa. They were convertibles, and it was so cute when he started playing with them and started questioning why they didn't have a top. I explained that they were called convertibles, and that convertibles don't have a top, or you can put the top down. His little brain was working hard to figure it out and he looked at me and said, 'Then won't the people blow out?' Such a sweetheart! So, when Jarrod got home, I had to of course tell him that cute story. He smiled, and said, 'Gavin, you just wait! This weekend, we're going to take the top off Daddy's Jeep, go driving around, and look for chicks!' Jarrod and I, of course, looked at each other and smiled, and Gavin just looked at Jarrod and said, 'Daddy, what are those?' God, I love that kid.

The things he says...
I haven't been documenting things Gavin says as much here, but he really cracks me up! From telling me that his shirt was too hard to get on him because his 'grown-up head' was coming in (after a conversation about grown-up teeth) to asking me if he'd be allowed to watch Spongebob when he was 18 years old....the things he says just bring a smile to my face so many times. I made a little journal in hopes of keeping track of these things more, but I also want to keep them here so they're in our blog books for the future. So...here's our conversation at dinner the other night.
He's eating, I'm feeding Riley, and Jarrod was running late so he wasn't home yet. Out of the blue, Gavin says...
G: "Mom, we should get you some make-up remover."
Me: "What?!?!"
G: "Some make-up remover. It takes off your make-up before you go to bed at night."
Me: "Where in the world did you learn about make-up remover?"
G: "I saw a commercial when I was watching Tom and Jerry."

Sweet Story to Share
I just wanted to share this sweet story. Today in the car, Gavin asked me to sing him a song. I asked what song he wanted to hear and he requested Twinkle Twinkle (a current favorite.) So, I sang it, and he asked for a different song. So, I sang Baa Baa Black Sheep. After it was finished I told him that my grandpa used to sing that to me when I was a little girl. The rest of the conversation went like this:
Gavin: "Your grandpa?"
Me: "Yep, your great grandpa Buck!"
Gavin: "Great Grandpa Buck?"
Me: "That's right. He used to sing it to me when Mommy was little like you. Now he lives in heaven though."
Gavin: "Can we go visit your grandpa in heaven in May?"
:)
{Gavin is currently obsessed with 'in May.' He knows we're going to Florida in May, so now he wants to do everything else 'in May' too.}

Our cute little bug turns bossy
Just wanted to share a cute story from our trip... I've mentioned before how Gavin likes to play this little game in the car where he says, "Mama? Daddy? Mama? Daddy?" over and over again, while we answer, "Yes, Gavin." Well, last Sunday, while we were in Bentonville, we were driving around and went through a Schlotzky's drive-thru. (Yay for Schlotzky's!) Just as Jarrod started to eat his sandwich, Gavin started to play the game.
Gavin: "Mama?"
Me: "Yes, baby."
Gavin: "Daddy?"
Well - Jarrod had just taken a large bite from his sandwich and his mouth was full. He didn't answer Gavin, and apparently that wasn't ok with him.
Gavin: "Hello??? You! Daddy!" he said, while pointing right at him. We both started laughing so hard. I think it was the tone of his voice and how he was pointing that we both thought was so funny. It was like he was telling Jarrod, "Ummm, don't ignore me. You are the Daddy....answer me!"
And so the bossiness begins....

5am Conversation
Gavin woke up at 4:45 this morning. At first, it was just a little whimpering, so I let it go. Within 10 minutes or so, he was standing and full blown crying. So, I went into him, and this is the conversation we had:
Mama: "What's the matter, bug?"
Gavin: "Eww!"
Mama: as I'm picking him up, "What's 'ewww'?"
Gavin: "Poo Poo"
Mama: as I'm feeling his diaper to see if I can tell if he pooped, "Did you poop?"
Gavin: laying his head on my shoulder, "Puuuuuush!"
:) No poopy diaper, but apparently he felt like he needed to. I changed a very wet diaper, and rocked him, and he went back to sleep. He then woke up at 7am saying, "Snap, snap" and making the hand movements he does when he sees an alligator. He must be having some strange dreams these days!

More Videos
It was requested that I post more of the videos that I take on my cell phone so everyone can see them. So, I will try to get one on here each week. Here's one to start your Monday off right! We sent this video to Daddy while he was at work one day. Gavin has started talking so much more in the last month. One morning, he put his shoe on my lap and said 'shoe' which he's been saying for a while now. But then he grabbed his socks and said 'sock' which was a new word I'd not heard yet! :)
