25 Weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 25 Weeks
Size of baby: Baby Hamm is the size of an eggplant.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Just realized I didn't change it last week - but I gained another pound this week, which makes me +19lbs so far.
Maternity Clothes: Yep, pretty much everything (except sweats).
Gender: It's a GIRL!!!  When the name is decided, it will be kept a secret until she arrives.
Movement: Feeling lots of movement now and can see her move from the outside.  Jarrod finally felt her last night, but Gavin still isn't patient enough.
Sleep: I'm sleeping pretty good still!
What I miss:  Not much - trying to enjoy this one since it will probably be our last.
Cravings: Back to wanting spicy food all the time, which Jarrod loves.  And I've just been eating way too much in general!  I sent Jarrod on a run the other night.  He was dropping something off at a friends, so I asked him to go a different way home to bring me a milkshake.
Symptoms:  Tons of heartburn last week!
Best Moment this week: Getting some things sold in the garage sale to make money for Baby Sister's things!

We had a very productive weekend.  I dropped of two laundry baskets full of clothes for the consignment sale on Friday.  It starts today so I'm excited to see my sales!  Saturday morning we had our community garage sale.  Unfortunately it wasn't the greatest weather - pretty cold for how it's been here, but we did make $150.  I didn't sell a lot of the baby clothes like I thought we would, but maybe that's a good thing!  We did, however, sell some of the bigger items that were taking up space in the garage, so that was nice.

We also are doing great on going cold turkey about Gavin's bedtime cup of milk.  It's something I've wanted to do for a while, but didn't want to battle.  Well, Friday morning and at nap and again on Saturday morning, he woke up soaked through his pull up.  Washing sheets 3 times in 24 hours isn't fun.  So I talked to him about how him milk was making him wake up cold and wet, and we didn't allow him to take a cup to bed at naptime or bedtime on Saturday.  He did so well!  I'm so glad he gets it.

Now, we're dealing with allergies.  I think Gavin's going to have my seasonal allergies...boo!  I started him on Claritin this morning, so hopefully it will help.

Rapunzel, Rapunzel

We were playing with these shape links one day and Gavin was so excited to make it "very long!"  Then, he ran over to the couch and hung it over the side, and started saying, "Rapuzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!"  Yet another example of things he learns from books and tv that I didn't realize he knew!

I'm exhausted today.

Let me tell you why.  :)  Yesterday, while Shirley was eating her breakfast, the carbon monoxide detector, which is located directly above her bowls, started chirping to tell us the battery needed to be changed.  It freaked her out!  She literally dropped the food out of her mouth and ran.  Gavin was on our bed watching a little TV while I watched the Today Show and he yelled for me to let me know she had jumped up on the bed.  She was curled up right next to him, shaking.  Of course - we don't have a 9V battery for me to change it.  So, I put her in the backyard and got ready to head to the store to get new batteries.  Well, I couldn't get the dog to come back in the house.  I lured her in with a treat (which was MUCH harder than it usually is and she immediately ran to Gavin's bedroom and jumped on his bed.  I can't believe she can even get up on that bed!  So, I called Leslie (thank goodness for neighbors!) and borrowed a battery just so it wouldn't beep while I went to Target.  The dog literally went right back outside as soon as we got home and didn't come in until Jarrod finished mowing the lawn at like 6:45 that night.  Even then, she went straight into Gavin's room, and even slept in there.  She was traumatized from the chirping yesterday!

So, fast forward to about 3:15am.  We're awoken by the sound of the carbon monoxide detector going off.  Not the chirping.  The actual alarm sounding.  Jarrod went straight for the detector and I ran into Gavin's room to see if he was ok.  I walked in to find him looking around, and he asked me, "What is that on my bed???"  Shirley panicked and jumped up on his bed!  He put his pillow over his head, trying to block out the alarm.  Jarrod called the fire department, and I wrapped a blanket around Gavin and we sat on the porch until they arrived.  He thought it was pretty neat to see the stars out.  They came and no carbon monoxide was detected.  The determined out detector was malfunctioning and we needed a new one.  So, finally around 4am, I was able to get Gavin back in his bed and we all went back to sleep for a couple hours before morning.

I wish I could have taken a nap when Gavin did today, but I have so much to do still before the consignment sale.  I'm consigning a lot of Gavin's clothes to make room (and money!) for Baby Sister's clothes and the drop-off is Friday.  I'm almost there....

Talking with a Toddler

I guess he's not really considered a toddler after he turns 3, is he?  :(  I wanted to share this funny conversation we had this morning, but since we're not sharing the baby's name, I'm substituting other names so you can hear the funny story still.

Me:  Gavin, do you like the name Minnie Mouse for Baby Sister?
Gavin: Yes.
Me: Can you say Minnie Mouse?
Gavin: Minnie Mouse.
Me:  Do you like the name Dora?
Gavin: Yes.
Me: Can you say Dora?
Gavin: Dora.
Me:  Ok, what about the name Big Bird?  Do you like that?
Gavin:  I do!
Me: Can you say that name?
Gavin: Big Bird.
Me:  Ok, which name do you like best?
Gavin: Umm.....Gavin!  :)
