Nursery Progress: DIY mobiles

I recently found this blog and got some great ideas for DIY projects.  I really loved the mobile one for the nursery so I decided to give it a shot.  Mobile Inspiration

So, Gavin and I went to Hobby Lobby to get the flowers and some more Tacky Glue and spent $12.  I already had wire at home, plus Jarrod had the hooks and fishing line.  I started out just making a random shape with the wire, then followed their explanation of splitting the plastic part of the flower with an exacto knife and gluing them onto the wire.  I found that if I worked too much on it, the flowers would start falling off, so I'd glue some on for about 5 minutes or so then come back to it to add more.  It made the project last longer, but it was getting frustrating when the flowers would fall off so I liked doing it this way.  I just hung the mobile from the back of a chair in our dining room and would work on them periodically.  Last night we hung them and here are the finished products!

I don't think the pictures do them justice, but they really turned out cute.  Once we decide on her name, I'll probably add a decorate letter to the right.  

23 Weeks!

The photos aren't centered the greatest.  I decided to start using the tripod for the weekly pic because when the lighting isn't right, etc. I can keep trying without bugging Jarrod to keep taking more.  This one actually isn't the greatest that I got last night, but I loved that Gavin was in it with me, so it's the one I'm going with.  :)

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 23 Weeks

Size of baby: Baby Hamm is the size of a papaya and weighs about a pound.  Her eyelids and eyebrows are completely formed and her pancreas is developing.  

Total Weight Gain/Loss: -1 lbs from last week again - 15lbs total...I must say that my scale and my doctor's scale are so different though.  I think according to him I'm only up 10 lbs.  

Maternity Clothes: Yep, pretty much everything (except sweats). 

Gender: It's a GIRL!!!  When the name is decided, it will be kept a secret until she arrives.  

Movement: Feeling lots of movement now and can see her move from the outside.  Gavin and Jarrod just haven't been able to feel her yet because of bad timing.

Sleep: I'm sleeping pretty good still, except when it's HOT like last night!

What I miss:  Not much - trying to enjoy this one since it will probably be our last.

Cravings: Back to wanting spicy food all the time, which Jarrod loves.  

Symptoms:  Tons of heartburn last week!

Best Moment this week: Working in the nursery, hearing her heartbeat at my appt last week, and just watching Gavin get so excited about baby stuff.

Some baby updates

We're 22 weeks and 4 days today.  Two nights ago Jarrod and I could see the baby moving from the outside, but we haven't gotten the timing right for him or Gavin to feel her yet.  I can't wait for that!  Today we had a doctor's appointment.  The heart rate was 151 and the doctor said everything was looking good.  They definitely do things a little different here...I don't have to give a urine sample like I did with Gavin and they haven't started measuring my belly yet.  But, I do like the doctor and I've heard such great things about the practice so I feel like I'm in good hands.  I did learn that if everything goes smoothly at delivery, I only have to stay 24 hours.  That surprised me, but it is less time I have to be away from Gavin.  :)  Today at my appointment, Jarrod asked if it was 'still a girl,' and Dr. Schmitz said 'Looks that way!  But we have been wrong before.'  Wow!  That's reassuring.  ;)  He said that it's rare, but ultrasounds aren't always accurate, so now I'm a little worried about that.  I keep showing everyone the ultrasound pictures and everyone says girl, but I still have fears of hearing 'It's a boy!' at the birth.  We're putting pretty much all our clothes in the consignment sale or garage sale in a couple of weeks and we sure do have a lot of pink already!  I called a local ultrasound place today, but it's $90 to go in and I don't think we should spend the money on it.  So, I guess if we end up with a little boy after all of this - he'll be wearing pink for a while! :)
