Another first for Gavin

It feels like our little Bug is growing up faster and faster everyday.  We're constantly talking about and doing things that Gavin's never done before.  He saw a commercial last month for a miniature golf place, and has been asking to go play 'mini golf' ever since.

Last weekend, it was the perfect weather for some Putt-Putt.  It was warm, but there was a nice breeze, and so we headed out after nap to take Gavin to his first Putt Putt course.

He played all 18 holes!  Some of the holes were more exciting to him than others, but he still played.  Every once in a while he'd pick the ball up and move it closer to the hole!

He also wanted to help us out.  After our first putt, he'd offer to "help" and hit the ball again for us to get it closer.  So thoughtful!

Aside from the Putt-Putt, he was also really fascinated with the bridges, fountains, and bricks.  He had a great time playing Putt-Putt!  It was great family outing.

I have a couple video clips from our evening that I'll post soon.  I just have to get everything uploaded to Blogger.

Amy Rocks!

At the end of last summer, I met Amy at a playdate after she had moved here from California with her family.  After a few more playdates, it was obvious that we had a lot in common.  Gavin and Lucas have fun playing together, and I love having someone here that I can trust and hang out with. Having a friend to go through this pregnancy with is also fun - Amy is due in just a few weeks with Baby Sister's future boyfriend! :)

Not only is Amy hosting a small shower for me next week, but she's also volunteered to keep Gavin at their house when I go into labor.  How awesome is that!  So, tonight we're going to do a little trial run.  Jarrod and I are actually going out for a date night - dinner and to see Bridesmaids - while Gavin plays with Lucas.  Then, he'll go ahead and go to bed there to see how he does and so he's had a chance to experience bedtime there before our big day comes.  Fingers crossed he goes down easily for her!

And a funny side note - last night during bath time, Jarrod asked Gavin where he should take me for dinner tonight for our date.  Gavin's {quick} response should have been expected - Chick-Fil-A of course!  According to him, chicken nuggets makes for a great date night.  :)

Thanks, Amy, for being such a great friend!  Can't wait to see your baby boy.  :)

Let's go on a hike!

Ever since Gavin read Curious George Goes Hiking, he's been talking about going on a hike.  I'm not sure I'd make it for a "real" hike, but we got up this weekend and took him to a local park to walk on the trail.  It was gorgeous out and a perfect morning for a walk.  He immediately found a "hiking stick" and off we went!

One of the things I love is when Gavin will say, "How about you take my picture over there?"  He picked the location for these shots.

Just as we stopped for a water break, I spied a deer getting ready to cross the path.  I'm not sure who was more excited - Daddy or Gavin.

And one quick shot of Baby Hamm on our hike!

I think Gavin and I will start heading out for early walks on this trail more often.  It's so nice there!

The Return of Summer

Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial kick-off to summer, and Mother Nature sure knew how to turn up the heat!  We spent a lot of time together as a family, which I LOVE.  It's so nice that we can spend holidays together now....Jarrod's work schedule here is amazing!

On Sunday, we woke up and Jarrod got this idea to drive up to Branson for the day.  We've not been yet, and we just stayed for a few hours, but it was a nice visit.  We walked around the Landing and had lunch and then headed back.  It's definitely a place we'll take family to when they visit again.

When we got home, we filled up his water table for the first time this year and Gavin had a blast! It's going to be a fun summer splashing in the back yard.  :)
