Some ramblings

I just have a lot racing through my head, so I thought I'd just ramble for a minute.  It will update you all and make me feel a lot better! :)  I'm planning to post some videos later, too, so stay tuned for those.

All of you that know Jarrod know that he is usually the one that's super prepared and gets antsy easily.  This time around it's me that's like that!  I'm getting my bag out to start packing some things this weekend.  I have a notebook full of lists that I keep adding to.  Things I need to pack in my bag {can't forget the Flip Camera!}, things I still need to buy for after the baby {yoga pants!}, things that are on my 'wishlist' that I really need to get before she comes {like my baby book - which is now unavailable on Amazon - grrr! and my Moby Wrap, because Tori tells me I NEED one}, things I need to make sure I have ready for Gavin {apple cereal bars are a must!}, and so on, and so on...  I'm already thinking of things we still have to do, like find a place to put the swing and get the car seat installed.

I'm really looking forward to my college best friends visiting next week.  Angie, Heidi, and Lauren will be coming next Friday for a long weekend.  I can't wait for Gavin and Giovanni to play together {Gavin's already told me what toys he's going to share with Giovanni}.  I'm looking forward to lots of girl talk, rubbing Heidi's pregnant belly {hope you don't mind, Heidi!}, probably swapping some massages.  :)  I haven't seen these girls is WAY too long and I almost cried when I found out they were all coming.  Watch out, Jarrod!  It's going to be a girly weekend.

Gavin started Fit Kids yesterday.  I thought it would be good to sign him up for because it's the first class at the rec that he has to go to by himself {which he thought meant he had to drive himself to...} and I thought it would be a good transition into preschool.  He went right in without hesitation.  I didn't even get a kiss!  He's a very cautious child, and very observant at the beginning of any new experience.  And sure enough, when I peeked in through the window to see if he was following directions, he was usually doing a variation of what he was supposed to be doing while watching the other kids and his teacher.  I know he'll warm up to the class the more he goes.

Ok - enough rambling...  I'll upload a few videos and then I have to get some more things done.  Nesting has officially hit me!

Great Ultrasound!

So, we went in this morning for our ultrasound to make sure Baby Girl was growing ok.  The ultrasound went great for many reasons.
  1. We found out she is still a girl!  Yay!  No need for a little boy to wear girl dresses! :)
  2. I found out exactly how she's laying.  She is head down, and her spine curls around my left side.  So all the poking I feel on the right side is from her hand, knees, and feet.
  3. She isn't measuring small at all, and my fluid levels are just fine.  In fast, she's measuring at 35 weeks - so 2 weeks ahead!  I know how off ultrasounds can be, so I'm not swearing by this, but she weighs an estimated 5lbs 15oz already!  The ultrasound tech called her a 'chubby one.'  Considering Gavin weighed 6lbs 10oz at birth, I have a feeling this little girl will be bigger than him!
So, my next appointment in 2 weeks I'll be tested for Group B Strep, and he said he'd check my cervix to see how things are getting started!

A Painting Masterpiece

I honestly think one of the best things about this pregnancy is experiencing it through Gavin's eyes. He's so excited about the baby coming and is very involved.  I told Jarrod recently that I wanted to let Gavin paint my belly, which of course he thought was kind of strange...  But, I thought Gavin would really get a kick out of it.  So this past weekend, we finished up breakfast and I let Gavin go to town.  It turned out to be a quick activity, but we still enjoyed it.

The proud artist!

The finished masterpiece!

33 Weeks!

Yep - another shadow, Tori - I was too tired to argue with Jarrod.  :)

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 33 Weeks
Size of baby: Baby Hamm is about the size of a honeydew.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: I'm going to re-weigh myself in the morning, because this morning it said I gained 3lbs this past week and I don't believe that!
Maternity Clothes: Absolutely!
Gender: It's a GIRL!!!  When the name is decided, it will be kept a secret until she arrives.  I think we're down to 3 names right now (and sadly, Aveeno isn't on that list....but it is ranked at a close 4th!)
Movement: This baby seems to never stop moving lately!  She's so active, especially at night and when I'm eating.  I love it!
Sleep: Sleep has been going downhill thanks to the million times I have to wake up to pee!
What I miss:  Margaritas - it's summer!  I'd love to have a margarita with Jarrod.
Cravings: Water and fruity drinks - Jarrod went to get me a watermelon slush the other night and it was so delicious!
Symptoms:  Braxton Hicks contractions, heart burn and carpal tunnel are the main things right now.
Best Moment this week:  Having my shower - it was such a great time!

When I got my camera out to take my belly shots last night, Gavin wanted to take one.  So, I wrapped the strap around his neck and let him try to take a picture.  This is what he got -
I asked him if it worked and he looked at it and said, "No.  Let's take one of your face now."

I'm getting a bit antsy lately.  I started a list of things to pack this weekend and am working on some notes for Gavin for while we're in the hospital.  I love being pregnant and I'm enjoying every minute, every ache, every pain, everything - but I am also getting really excited to see her!

We had my check up this morning, and while everything looks good, I am measuring about 2 weeks behind where I should be so I'm going in tomorrow morning for another ultrasound to make sure her growth and my fluid level is ok.  Of course, we'll probably have to pay out of pocket for this one, but it does mean we get to see her again!
